surfing with Masamune-kun makes me so happy. he’s such a good kid with big dreams and a big smile.

his dream to become a doctor will come true. i just know it by talking to him and listening to his passion.

and he will be another doctor that surfs. a great life ahead!

i almost cried on the last day when i dropped him off at his hotel. i spent some good quality time with this kid.

thank you for the lei Masamune-kun. please study hard, surf hard, and remember to always follow your dreams. then maybe when i get older, you can be my doctor? haha. see you next year!
THE LAST SAMURAI DOCTOR?
Tohoku Crab Man

i still can’t believe how we stumbled upon this little fishing village called Kobochihama. we passed by there on every mission and got to know the people very well. now Kobochihama has a special place in my heart. can’t wait to go back!

i remember this man on the right of Toda-san. such a big man with a big smile.

fast forward 3 years. we were in Kobochihama a few months ago and the same man came driving by on his bike. of course, one of Kimura-san’s fisherman friends.

check out what he had in his basket!

omg, looks so delicious!
great to see the smiles and life of Kobochihama returning. i love it!
Kaimuki Superette

went down to check out the new restaurant that just opened up near my house. Kaimuki Superette is run by the same people that run “Town” right across the street.

open everyday except sunday.

super nice and clean inside.

brand new so very interesting.

seasonal sandwiches & sundries. pretty good selection of sides.

and pickled vegetables in jars for take out.

tshirts and caps for sale.

pretty cool.

i ordered the sausage sandwich. it cost $10.

and the side sampler. it cost $12.
My Review: ok, i’m stoked a new place opened down my street. i was really excited to check it out. i walked in and was really impressed on how clean it was. then i went to order and when the staff told me it cost $24, i was a little shocked. $24 for a lunch is way out of my budget. yes, it tasted pretty good, but would have tasted better if it was half that price. would i go there again? probably not. but if you have a fat wallet, go check it out. enjoy!
