surfing is booming in japan. when i was there in april, i couldn’t believe how many surfers were out at ikumi beach in shikoku. cold water, full wetsuits, but full of fun!

and i totally understand when japanese surfers come to hawaii and are so happy to surf with only a few surfers out. it’s actually unbelievable for them.

but hawaii is hawaii and japan is japan. i actually miss surfing in japan. the surf culture is just so amazing.

when i need food, i just go dive.

and when i dive, i get food.

i had another wonderful day! went surfing this morning with these cool guys from Osaka. Ryo-kun, Hayato-kun, and Ban-chan. three surfers from osaka that came for a month long stay here in hawaii. the waves were fun and nobody was out around us. we just enjoyed wave after wave, laugh after laugh. it was so fun!

then since it’s their first time here in hawaii, we went to the north shore for a drive. white sandy beaches with everybody enjoying the summer heat. this is haleiwa when it’s flat and they couldn’t believe that this spot goes up to 30′ faces in the winter months. crazy!

went to check out some turtles and had to take this panorama shot. such a beautiful day!

i had a full fun day with these guys. great mexican lunch, sightseeing, and shave ice. just hanging out and having fun. i’m sure they will enjoy the rest of their long vacation here in hawaii! keep on surfing guys!

waimea bay was just so beautiful today. looking at those sailboats made me look forward to my upcoming north indo boat trip coming up in september. i can’t wait!

my grand nephew is the cutest baby ever. i wish i could steal him and keep him forever. but then again, he only lives next door so i can just borrow him when ever i want to. and when he starts to cry, i can just take him home. haha.
the other day i had to pick up my customer in the lobby of her hotel. she asked “how would i know it’s you?” i told her “just look for the darkest japanese guy you’ve ever seen.” she found me in 2 seconds. haha. i’m so dark now and it’s only the beginning of summer!
