there are a few people selling sweet ama ebi on the islands recently. before you could only get it from japan, but now, you can get it locally and it’s pretty fresh. molokai ama ebi is my favorite and Gaku sells it. big, sweet, and juicy! after you eat the tail in some wasabi/shoyu, they will either fry the head for you, or make miso soup with it. both excellent!

how’s this rocket man! omg, he probably had the coolest view flying around mt. fuji!

and when there is rain, there are rainbows! i love surfing in the rain, the sun, and the wind because you just never know what you will see. welcome to my office!
we had the first storm of the winter season that started last night. it was raining so hard at my house. in the middle of the night, i got an alert on my phone warning me about the flash floods. i had chills as it reminded me of all the phones in japan beeping seconds before some earthquakes came in tohoku. it was a really scary feeling for me that i will never forget. then tokyo had a big earthquake last night, then the super typhoon hitting the philippines. mother nature is upset at something. be safe!

50 is a new beginning!

had a wonderful morning session with Wada-san and Arai-san. Wada-san turned 50 years old last month and wanted to try something totally different. she came to the right place! the rainbows, long rides, warm water, and smiles filled our morning. it took a couple of waves for them to get up but once they rode their first long wave, it was too easy! 50 years old and a new surfing life ahead. i wish them a healthy and happy life! see you next week wednesday. be ready to take your surfing experience to another level!

was watching the HIC Pro when i had a break today. super stoked to see my nephew Isaiah Moniz in the quarter finals. his best result ever and i’m sure this confidence booster will push him to higher limits in this years triple crown of surfing. opps? i’m not supposed to say anything, but Isaiah was also invited into the prestigious that starts on november 12. watch out for the 3 moniz brothers making the triple threat! it’s time to shine boys!

OMG, super typhoon HAIYAN happened to be the world’s most powerful typhoon ever! it ran over the philippines killing over 1,200 people and many more missing. the death toll is expected to be over 10,000 people. shocking! that’s so sad and to make things worst, another typhoon is on the same track.

ate sushi at Nobu tonight in waikiki. pretty dam good! now i’m home and ready to sleep. tomorrow is another long surfing day. waves should be great! goodnight!
