Buy Molokai

photo 71
i passed by this local guy on the street in molokai selling dried fish. i asked him how much, he said $15. wow! that’s pretty expensive for 3 small fish. i usually wouldn’t buy it. well, that’s what i thought at first, but recently, i’ve been learning that it is better to support the economy where ever you go. put money into their economy if you can. whether it’s a store, a company, or a person. the more money you put into an economy, the better. so i bought the fish, we ate it, and everybody was happy!

saimin vs. ramen? i use to love saimin until i ate ramen in japan for the first time. then it’s been years since i haven’t eating it again. so we bought some local saimin, made it in molokai, and guess what?

it was awesome! after my first bite, it reminded me of the good old days. throw some onions, cilantro, portuguese sausage, and some shoyu. perfect!

this is how oahu use to be a very long time ago. everybody just living off the land. now days, you can’t live off the land anymore because the land is more expensive then what you make out of it.

i miss waking up early in the morning to the deer crossing the yard. if i lived in molokai, i surely wouldn’t be hungry, and i surely wouldn’t be needing that much money. i would actually be eating a lot better than i am now. haha.
gosh, can’t wait to go back!

i had such a great time with Mr. and Mrs. Yamamoto today. it’s both their first time surfing in hawaii and the waves were perfect! sunny, fun, and felt good to be back in the clear blue water. i think i was happier than them being back in hawaii. haha. Thank you and hope you enjoy the rest of your trip!

when ever i stay in hawaii too long, i forgot how lucky we are to live here. diamond head looks normal to me when i pass by it everyday, but since i haven’t seen it in a week, it was more beautiful than ever today!

the super moon last week. wow!
well, i’m glad to be back home. love this island life with all the aloha! working hard for the next 3 weeks and then planning on a dive trip, or to chase some typhoons. depending on the flight availability. i might just end up in bali again? haha.
