when you travel, you better take all your good boards. a long time ago, i wouldn’t take a new surfboard on a trip unless i tried it before. but now, i have confidence in my shaper. i’ve been surfing with matchi for the past 20 years and he’s been shaping my boards for the last 8. we have a connection that he knows what i want, and i know what he’s capable of. so on this trip, i took 3 brand new boards and guess what? it all worked super good! yeah, especially this 5’6 four fin. super fast, loose, and lots of drive. magic all the way!

it was dark early morning and my camera just wouldn’t focus. but i want to thank toda-san for taking this photo for my memory. yeah, that wave was unreal!
