Hawaii/Japan News

ever since i quit watching tv, i’ve been out of the news circle. don’t know what’s going on and don’t really want to know because most is all negative. once a month, i check a site that keeps me updated on what’s going on. here’s what i found:
1. APEC security agent shoots a kailua man at the Waikiki Mcdonalds. agent was drunk and shot a gun he is supposed to use to protect the public. and get this? it was during the APEC conference. that’s bad.
2. rice harvested 60 km outside the nuclear plant tested positive for high levels of radiation. i have one question? why did the government draw the perfect 20 km line away from the nuclear plant when there is radiation outside of it? that’s bad.
3. no surf in Hawaii. been the worst winter season start in the history of surfing. the 1st leg of the triple crown at haleiwa can’t even get started. that’s bad.
4. a japanese nurse in her 40’s was caught smuggling drugs into malaysia. the first japanese national to get caught, but not the first to get the death penalty. she will be hung next year. that’s bad.
5. college penn state assistant coach arrested for sexual assault on young boys. they should cut his penis off. he’s been doing it for many years and even thought everybody knew what he was doing, they didn’t call the police. that’s bad. they all should go to jail!
6. 51 year old man decided to go surfing by himself for the first time on the north shore. now he’s missing. they found his car, wallet, and surfboard. they are still searching for his body. that’s bad.
i can go on and on. now you know why i don’t watch the news anymore? can somebody tell me some good news?

all of M5 members have been up here before. all of M5 members know what we are here for. and all of M5 members know what the meaning of giving is all about. to take time off from busy schedules, to put everything on hold, and to volunteer their time and money to help others is a true gift. as we were driving through oshika hanto yesterday, i was thinking to myself “wow, if all of the ONE members got together and formed a company, we could take over the world.” every single person has expertise in something, every member knows how to make people happy, and every member gives a 100% effort. the perfect time management, the well planned schedule, and street smart common sense in this group is amazing. i’m proud to have created a bond with these wonderful people. a lot of people in tohoku ask how all of us from different parts of japan and the world know each other. the answer is always the same, SURFING! the ocean brought us together and riding waves together is our life. everything comes after.
what’s next? lot’s of missions ahead for sure. we formed relationships in tohoku that will a lifetime. in the beginning, we all knew that it is impossible to help the thousands in need, but we can pinpoint families and join hands. that’s what we’re doing and that’s what we will continue to do.
i want to take this time to our M5 members and say “thank you so much. great people, warm hearts, and strong supporters for japan. i’m proud to be your friend. let’s keep moving forward. great job and see you on M6.”
and to all our supporters out there, thank you again and again!
WE ARE ONE!
