Halo Photographer….
HITO KANJI = People supporting People..

good morning. gotta get going to the airport, but before that, i’m
going to jump into the water, paddle out, and catch one wave for the
long road ahead. i know i won’t be surfing for a while and will
probably the longest i’ll ever be out of the water, but it’s ok. i
just appreciate that i can even surf. as for japan, i hope the ocean,
the land, and the people can heal soon.
i’ve been talking to people that have been in the front line of the
disaster. just as i thought, it is much heavier than they thought.
our team is assembled, our cars are ready, and once i land in japan,
it’s time to get to work.
i have 2 radioactive detectors, one analog that i finally figured out
how to use. as for the digital one, i have no clue. if anybody knows
how to use a MGP Instruments DMC-2000 Electronic Dosimeter, PLEASE
CONTACT ME AND TELL ME HOW TO USE IT….. how did such an expensive
device come with such a terrible manual???
last, just wanted to thank everybody for supporting me on this trip.
it’s such a great feeling to have so many caring and kind people on
your side. i can’t explain the feeling. i know that there are lots
of lonely people in japan wondering what will happen, i’m going to do
my best to be on their side. well, i should say that “WE” will be by
their side. why? because WE ARE ONE!!!!
see you in japan!
oh wait!! scroll back up and take a good look at the ONE logo. naoka
and i worked on this t-shirt as soon as i got back from palau. we got
a lot of good comments on it which made us both happy. BUT, there is a
hidden message in the logo that i didn’t know about until naoka told
me about it 2 days ago. you see the japan island chain, and the
hawaiian island chain? naoka placed it like that for a reason. well,
2 reasons. first, japan and hawaii are so connected that we are ONE.
the next is something that gave me chicken skin. do you know this
kanji character? ã人ãthis kanji character means “hito” or
“people.” the two sticks represent two different people, or a group
of “people.” so it’s described as one stick holding up the other,
meaning “people supporting people.” i told naoka that this was the
most magical thing i’ve ever seen in my life. now when i see this
sticker or wear my tshirt, i can see the 人ã ãand= it makes me
happy because that’s what we are, “people supporting people.” with
this in mind, we can make it through anything in life. thanks naoka
for giving me a spark in my life just as i was starting to go
emotionally down…. let’s get ready to do it!!! see you soon!

good evening. well, tomorrow is the day. going to head to the airport. a long 9 hour flight to osaka but going to take that time to sink in everything that’s been happening. when i was a kid, my mom use to always tell me “kirby, don’t waste your food, there are people starving in this world.” at that time, i didn’t get it. now, i do. every grain of rice means much more to me now, just like every second of the day, and every breath i take. i really appreciate my life a lot more and am grateful for all the wonderful supportive people around me. last night, i went to celebrate my best friend holli’s birthday party. i needed to get out of my house, i needed to get away from the calls and emails, i just needed to be with my close friends for an evening. as usual, we have a great time and a great talk. when it was time to go, holli gave me the biggest hug she’s ever did since i’ve known her. it felt so dam good and didn’t want to let go. i felt the love and support without any words being exchanged. now, i’m going to take that big hug with me to japan and spread some aloha. shit, this is getting emotional, i better get going….
