good morning. 7 am and i’m going to Tokyo!!! tanoshimi!!
**a few weeks ago, i was at costco in hawaii buying a new ipod for my friend. after i downloaded all my itunes into his new ipod, i suddenly wanted one. i have the old ipod classic from 6 years ago that is pretty heavy, and the battery lasts 15 minutes if i’m lucky. so i went back to costco and was going to spend $180 on a new ipod….

then…. a friend of mine was selling her old iphone much cheaper then the ipod i wanted. i really hated the idea of an iphone but after i found out it’s the same thing as an ipod, i researched more into it. it’s an ipod and a phone. i can skype with it? really? in hawaii, AT&T has a monopoly on the iphone market. if you don’t have an iphone that wasn’t purchased from AT&T, you can’t use it. and in japan, SoftBank has their own monopoly on iphones. if you don’t have an iphone purchased from softbank, you can’t use it…. but wait!!! that’s what they want you to think….i hate monopolies so if there is a way around it, i will take that road. i got my iphone hacked in hawaii, meaning unlocked and jailbroken so i can use it anywhere in the world and download free applications.
then yesterday, i went to yokohama softbank and asked the sales person if she could change the sim cards for me. she asked me where i got the phone from, i told her in hawaii. her friendly smile turned into anger. she said “hey, you can’t use that for softbank, only softbank phones work with softbank sim cards. if you use it, it will break.” eeh? what? she yelled at me and walked away. wow!!! i that that was sexy. haha.. just joking. so on the way home, i stopped by fujisawa softbank and asked the same question. the staff there also got mad and told me that i would get arrested. eeh? what? no way? why? she also said that there is no possible way i can use it with my prepaid sim card and if i did, i would have to buy a new iphone that costs $600 and sign a 2 year contract. i told her “i’m sorry, i’m not rich and i don’t believe you.”
so i come home, turn on my computer, and hack the iphone myself. it didn’t work at first but after researching some sites on the internet and changing some settings, my iphone was working fine….

now i’m on the softbank 3G network. i even hacked my iphone so i can send emails using my text message service. the 2 girls at the softbanks yesterday pissed me off. they could have been nicer and treated me better. softbank is a monopoly and like i said before, i hate monopolies. they screw up the economy by creating unfair competition, or should i say, no competition. what ever price they want to sell their iphones for, they can. that sucks for the little guys like me that can’t afford it…
so this is it. if you want to hack your iphone and be able to use it anywhere in the world with any sim card from any country, i will introduce to my friend devin back in hawaii. he feels the same way so he does it for pretty much for free. then i will show you how to use it for softbank in japan. is it illegal? absolutely not!! if it was, i wouldn’t do it. does AT&T or SoftBank approve of it? absolutely not!! they want to control the market and train their staff to be mean to innocent people like me. shame on you guys… i feel like going back to the softbanks and showing the 2 girls my new phone. haha.. just joking. they might like me…
*by the way, i turned off my softbank.ne.jp mail account 2 days ago because i couldn’t sleep at night. gomen. please send email to my other account… thanks.

To: Tokura from Mark Richards in 1977. a piece of history..

when i flew in to narita, i was on a train coming back to shonan. i jumped in with all my luggage and took a seat because i was so tired. i sat down looking around thinking to myself “wow, i didn’t realize but there are a lot of girls in japan.” when i got out of the train, i found out i was sitting in the “women only” cars. haha…. no wonder the girls in there were staring at me. and the whole time,i thought it was because of my new hair cut… haha….

i’ve been here for 3 days and haven’t seen the ocean yet. i feel like a turtle lost in the city. do i miss hawaii? of course!! i miss the ocean, the tropical weather, and the amazing sunsets when driving home from the beach. ahhh……
