Dog The Bounty Hunter

good morning. 6:30 am surf report.
north shore: 6-8′ and windy already. the swell is more out of the north so maybe check laniakea or sunset beach. cloudy skies.
south shore: 2-4′ and looking perfect. offshore winds with overcast conditions. should clear up.
**yesterday i was hanging out at kewalo’s in the evening talking story with matchi and kenji. it was a normal day, the waves were good, and the vibe was good. then at a blink of an eye, 3 big SUV’s pull up blocking everyone in, and guess who shows up?

yeah, Dog The Bounty Hunter. for those of you who don’t know who he is, i’ll tell you. dog goes out and catches the bad guys that don’t show up to court, or are on the wanted list. he has a top rated show on tv and i actually watched a few of his shows and always thought he was cool for taking the bad guys off the streets, but at the same time, thought he was an idiot for the way he did it. meaning, acting tough and doing things just for tv ratings. anyway, he pulls into kewalo’s looking for some wanted guy. he strolls through the parking lot with his bodyguards and cameramen acting like a tough guy. well, kewalo’s is the last place you want to pull up acting like a tough guy because there are real tough guys that hang out there. he starts to get into an argument with a couple of local surfers. as i was watching all this happen, i started to get a little irritated because of the way he disrespected the locals. and dog was only acting tough because of the tv cameras on him and he knows what he can get away with. he don’t have the balls to step up and fight like a man. he’s always hiding behind his bodyguards. and if one guy hit him, he would call the cops in a second. i don’t like guys like that. this is hawaii and there are really nice locals everywhere you go. and for him to pull up to a local place and act like the way he did yesterday, i lost all respect for him, his crew, and the show. i understand his job of getting the bad guys off the streets, but i wished he did it in a more respectful manner. the way he drives around and pulls up to places, him and his crew make everybody look like bad people. that sucks. anyway, after all that happened, i was proud of my local surfer friends for sticking up to the dog. i hope he thinks twice before pulling up to somewhere on this island and disrespecting the locals again. but probably not because it wouldn’t be good for tv ratings. i will never watch his show anymore because in my mind, the dog sucks…

Ukulele Picnic in Hawaii…

good evening. wow!! bowls was going off!! probably the best spot on the island today. seen matchi, shun, kenji, kamio, shindo, wakita, kairi, reika, and many more of the japanese crew out there. and i bet they were thinking “how come i can catch so many waves on the north shore but can’t seem to catch a good wave out here?” haha… welcome to town boys and girls!!! getting a wave at bowls is sometimes harder then getting a wave at pipeline….

i went surfing with saito-san this morning. saito-san is the producer for the ukulele picnic in hawaii 2010 event that’s happening this week. we were talking story between waves and i sure learned a lot. a lot about the history of ukulele in hawaii, artists, and the big event that’s coming up this weekend…

here is the event flyer and i’ll post the link to the website. from what i heard, this event is going to be one to remember. why? because it’s free, and a lot of ukulele artists from hawaii and japan will be there. along with food, games, prizes, and a lot of fun!!! see you down there!! and don’t laugh at me if you see me walking around with my ukulele. i’m going there to learn….

thank you saito-san for surfing with me this morning. i’m glad i was there to see you ride that long wave. the waves were big but you did a great job!! and thank you so much for this Bill Tapia CD. is he really 102 years old? i’m going to listen to this cd everyday and can’t wait to see him perform down at the ukulele picnic. mahalo!!!
