good morning. 6:30 am surf check.
south shore: down from yesterday. waist/chest high and clean. still good for this time of year.
north shore: 4-8′ out of the north. it’s the cleanest it’s been in a while. got some nice barrels at pipe/backdoor.
another great day for surfing in hawaii. get out there and enjoy it!!! oh, by the way, HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!!
i went to check out the ukulele picnic yesterday at kakaako park. it was a beautiful day with great music, food, and a lot of smily faces….
saito-san told me this was the 2nd annual ukulele picnic in hawaii and it’s growing and growing. i better start practicing so i can play in it next year? haha…
this event couldn’t have taken place on a better day. the sun made it warm, and the wind made it cool. what more can you ask for? oh, the waves? yeah, it made me want to surf!!
there were all kinds of booths with food, ukuleles, and other things. but my favorite was the slide…..
jeannie chesser was paddling in when we were paddling out yesterday. i don’t think anybody enjoys the ocean more than jeannie chesser….
Ukulele Picnic Fun in Hawaii…
Surfer Girls in Hawaii….
good evening. it took my 3 weeks of every excuse in the book to get these girls together. when the girls are young, it’s so easy to get them to show up to shoot. now they are teenagers, help!! whether it’s nails, hair cut appointments, or boys, getting them together was a challenge….
here is our #2 in the world ISA surfer alyssa quizon. she was freakin ripping today surfing better than most guy surfers… check out reika on the shoulder taking notes on how this girl became #2 in the world…
this SUP guy got a sick one right in front of me….
nage is from kauai and also represented hawaii in the ISA world contest. this girl was power surfing. i got the craziest photos of her. stay tuned!!!
kelia took charge and was the coordinator for this whole photo shoot. i tried so many times but it’s impossible to get everybody together. if it wasn’t for her, i’d probably be sitting outside of the girls houses like a stalker and following them to the beach. what i learned from shooting these teenagers was “to never do it again.” haha…
stay tuned for the coolest photos of these girls and more in a magazine in japan….
but to tell you the truth, i had a blast with these girls today. their stories, their laughs, their cell phones. if i got the chance to return to my teens, i wouldn’t do it. i like it exactly where i am right now….
2/16 OPEN!!!
oh my gosh!!! 2 more days!!!!
