ever since i got my boat over 10 years ago, i never launched it from makaha. why? i don’t know. last month was my first time and i wasn’t use to the surge in the harbor. yeah, i had a hard time getting my boat back on the trailer and when i finally did, my truck tires started slipping and i thought my car was going in the water. that would have been a nightmare.
the next truck i’m buying is a 4 x 4.

imagine spending $80,000 for a boat, $40,000 for a truck to pull the boat, $3,000 for fishing poles, $300 for gas, $50 for food, $30 for beer, wake up 3 am, go fishing all day, AND CATCH NOTHING!! OMG!!
i remember about 7 years ago waking up at 3 am, driving down to makaha, jumping on my friends boat, trolling all day long, and catch nothing. OMG!! guess what? that was the last time i went fishing on a boat all day. my friends always invite me but i always say “no thank you”….

instead of being on the water, i’d rather be in the water….
Makaha is the West Side…
Pipe Broke Board….

no other surfer in the world has broken more boards than wakita. i’d guess about 20 a year? that’s the price you pay for the glory of getting barreled!!!
this is wakita pulling out the back instead of pulling into a closeout. this way, you have a better chance of sparing your surfboard….

this is bruce irons on the next wave. see the 2 pieces of foam on the left side? that’s wakita’s broken board from the wave earlier… that sucks. but i’m sure wakita came in, grabbed another board, and went back out…. and probably broke that one too. i feel sorry for his surfboard sponsor. haha…
Isaiah Moniz Diary

i can’t believe how grown up my little nephew isaiah is. i can still remember the day when i went to watch him play his first baseball game at 5 years old. he was soooo cute.. now he’s not the little boy i can pick up and toss in the air. he’s grown into a fine young man with a bright future ahead of him.
my sister use to always tell me that isaiah is an excellent writer. and after i read his journal, i think so too. a smart young writer and i can’t believe he’s 15 years old already. i wish i tossed him in the air a lot more when he was tossable….
i read isaiah’s whole journal about his japan and bali experiences. it was his school assignment so he had to do it as a project. if i were his teacher, i would give him a A+. and i’m not saying that just because i’m his uncle. i was really impressed on his writing skills and what he had learned in the long 2 weeks….
this is what he wrote about being half japanese…

and this is what he wrote about the rubbish situation he experienced in bali….

i’m sure isaiah appreciates hawaii a lot more now. just ask him.
oh, and i wanted to ask isaiah how the pig guts, intestines, tail, ears, ass, and balls he ate in tokyo on his last day? matsuo told me he took him to a place that served all of that stuff and isaiah tried everything. that’s how to do it isaiah, experience the world so you have many many of stories to tell….
