HONOLULU DUI ALERT!!!

DUI checkpoint alert!! i was driving on keeamoku st. between king and beretania st. when i came across this DUI checkpoint. it was only 9:30pm last night so i was pretty surprised. in japan, you will get a $3000 fine and get your license suspended if you take a sip of a beer. in hawaii, you can actually drink a couple of beers and drive legally. but if you get pulled over, you better be able to walk the line. a line that is hard to walk even sober…. it’s better just not to drink and drive. call the taxi @ 808-531-1333. have a safe weekend….

i went to the pet store today at kahala and seen this weird animal. what the heck it it????
**and last, wanted to congratulate kairi noro for placing 5th in the finals for the HSA contest today at haleiwa. kairi called me right after the final and was soooo happy. i wish i could have recorded that conversation, so cute. a happy kid. and i’m super happy for kairi… and congratulations seth moniz for placing 2nd. go-groms….

Hawaii's Genki Sushi…
good happy valentines day morning!!! hope you all get your chocolate today. windy day again with small waves around the island. if you go north, laniakea will probably be fun. if you go south, rockpiles or kaisers will probably be best. i know a better spot but can’t say because i want to surf out there with nobody out. got to do some computer work, go surf, and enjoy this sunny day in hawaii. hope you do too….

kapahulu genki sushi is 5 minutes away from my house. it’s been there 8 years and last night was the first time i went to eat there. after eating the best of the best sushi in japan, i never go to genki, kozo, or aloha sushi. spoiled? i think so… well, here’s what i think about my first visit to genki sushi….

first of all, i don’t like a machine making my sushi. the free hot tea and ginger is cool. the ika was pretty good at $1.50. everything else didn’t look that good so i didn’t really want to try it. when i eat this kind of sushi in japan, i end up eating around 15 plates. at genki, i only ate 4. i had 2 ika, 1 spicy tuna poke, and fried ika. i left the place still hungry. and hyper from drinking all that free tea. would i recommend it? no way i would take my visiting japanese guests there. but it’s packed with locals every night and doing really well. i guess for hawaii’s standards, it’s good. but for my spoiled ass, not good enough. i rather prefer maguro-ya. better quality but big bucks…. i don’t know, i’m just not feeling genki now….
**sorry, i don’t really like to talk bad about places in hawaii but i just wasn’t happy. in fact, on the way home, i went to mcdonalds drive thru and ordered a salad. and i was much more satisfied… my mom goes to genki 2x a week and i still don’t get it…
