i woke up at 4:30am and drove down to ala moana to meet the kids at 6am. i was surprised to see them there before me. it wasn’t the best day for a dive because the weather was pretty bad, but who cares. we were on a mission to dive, train, and spear.
gen, seth, and josh. josh got a new gun last week so it was his first time.
this is a dream fish for most divers. it’s called a Munu. this fish tastes best, and costs most. gen is holding it but actually didn’t catch it. he’s just dreaming of the day and i’m sure that day will come soon. i shot this fish at 37′ deep and 19 seconds. this will be my dinner.
from winning contest to surfing big waves, seth is going to the top in the surfing world. i called it when he was 8 years old and he’s on the perfect track.
seth speared this fish and was stoked.
but josh stole the show. new gun and new level. this is his biggest fish ever and i’m sure it’s just the beginning.
i’ve always stressed the importance of cleaning and eating everything they catch. if they don’t eat it, don’t spear it. all they were talking about was how awesome dinner was going to be. being a teenager and being able to bring home fish for the whole family is pretty cool. i’m sure their parents are happy.
good job boys.
look what came out of the mouth of this fish. nature is so awesome.
it was deep and i was chasing my boat out to the blue water because the anchor came off. then i heard yelling and when the 3 boys came back to my boat, josh was smiling. it’s days like this that will change a boys life forever. a boy becoming a man.
another great day with my nephews. just watching them grow is awesome. makes me so proud of them and their accomplishments. one day i’ll be too old to dive and i’m sure one of these boys will catch, clean, and cook a fish for me. well, the better. haha.
