Japanese superhero “Kikaida”, the costumed android who wrangled marauding robots became a cultural phenomenon for locals who grew up in Hawaii during the mid-1970s.
When the show debuted in 1974 on local TV, it became a smash hit.
The show was rebroadcast many times, and its popularity has been passed on from parents to children and grandchildren for three generations
Nowadays, it is hard for people in Japan to imagine how big a sensation Kikaida was in the islands. It’s amazing to know that people in Hawaii openly express their love for Japanese superhero.
This last Kikaida appearance event, will include a stage performance and a free autograph and photo session with actor Daisuke Ban, who played the original hero, Jiro.
