Yet Another Toy: The New Canon 40d

good evening. gosh, it’s been so hot these past few days. i’m going nuts here. just checked out the wave forecast. looks like hawaii is in for a solid south swell. finally yeah? everybody’s been complaining how bad it’s been this year. the funny thing is i hear the same thing every year on the south shore. it’s always bad so you just have to think postive and take what you can. if you think hawaii in the summer is bad, try coming to japan when there are no typhoons. you can’t even surf. i’ve never seen a day in hawaii where you can’t find a head high wave somewhere. there’s always waves in hawaii so appreciate it. i would be the happiest guy if i can fly back to hawaii and surf waist high kewalo’s right now. anyway, as for the japan forecast, things are looking up. a small east swell should fill in next week and there is some activity near the philippines. we have to wait and see. all i know is that glenn minami is coming next week and i can’t wait to order my twin fin….. have a great evening….

i first bought my first digital camera a little over a year ago. it was a canon 20d. one month after i got it, they came out with the 30d. i only had my 30d for 6 months and now they came out with the 40d. shit. lose money…. the 40d shoots 6.5 frames per second. i only get 5 frames out of my 30d. that 1.5 frames could be the difference of getting the photo or not. and it’s almost exactly the same size so it should fit into my housing. the 40d comes out aug. 31st in japan and sept. 20th in america. i’m going to be the first one in line. can somebody let me borrow thier credit card number??? haha…

did i tell you that kelia can bodyboard too? she goes out with no fins and charges. most of the time she stands up but here she is pulling into a big shorebreak tube….

kazu-san from aloha street magazine was down at waikiki the other day. he saw my nephews and snapped this photo. gosh, i miss those kids. there at the age where surfing is everything to them. just pure stoke…. thanks so much kazu-san for the photo. you made my day…..

Wavement Tour Event in Kamakura….

this was the first time i went diving with an old school japanese diver. just by watching him and checking out all his gear, i figured out how to pound oysters. and pound is what we did. he got over 100lbs of huge oysters and i got about 20lbs. not bad for a starter….

i can’t wait to go back for more. i’ve been eating so many fresh oysters this past week that my ass is burning from all the pearls coming out of it…..

this is some of the fish and shellfish i got. i love diving and will always will. catching fish, sharing it with friends, and eating it is the best feeling. as good as getting barreled…

it was off to k-san’s favorite sushi bar in wakayama to drop off our dinner. and let me tell you, it was awesome…. when your eating lobster sashimi with the lobster head and legs still moving, it doesn’t get any better than that. it melts in your mouth. that’s kinsan on the right holding a big fresh “ono” or sawara. wanted to thank everybody in wakayama for the great experience and great time. more experiences i will never forget…. arigato gozaimashita….

hey guys, there’s a wavement event tomorrow night in kamakura. since i don’t shit about what’s going on, i’m going to try to make to. i might learn something. hope to see you there….

Roxy Jam Honolulu Results….

well, the roxy jam at queen’s is over and i’m so stoked on the results. kelia got 2nd!!! i’m so happy for her. kelia surfs longboard and shortboard. 9 of 10 times i surf with her, she’s on her shortboard. then when a big contest is coming up, she jumps on her longboard a few days before to practice. i’ve always told her that if she focuses on longboarding full-time, nobody can beat her. maybe getting 2nd in such a big pro event might change her focus. and the prize money of $900 can buy her favorite uncle a new camera. haha… 2nd is just one away from a champion. come on sis, you can do it….
