Peaceful Uncrowded Day

It’s such a bummer to see this again this morning.  This heavy boat literally got dragged over the shallow reef from the outside to the beach killing every single coral in its way.  People should get big fines for this.

Had a great surf with Obi-san.

I brought my magic board for him to try and his surfing turned out to be magic!

The waves were so good today.  And just a 1/3 of the crowd compared to yesterday.  Yesterday was crazy crowded, today was all about peace.  Plenty of waves for everyone.

These are my favorite kind of photos.  I still think it’s fascinating that we can ride waves over the ocean on fiberglass and foam.

Mighty Mouse starting to love every ride.  You can just tell by the confidence and by the smile.

Another day of good waves and perfect conditions.  We all went home happy today!

Hawaii’s Byodo-In

Wow, summer has officially began because the crowds are back!  The waves were really good but you had to be a hunter today.  If you didn’t hunt, you will be hunted.

Uncle Ray on a nice set with the 7’6 Tokoro!

Mighty Mouse finding waves on her own on her shortboard.

Perfect take off timing.

Perfect popup.

And perfect angle to Bowls left.  Excellent surfing today!

Spent the afternoon in one of the most sacred places in Hawaii.  This is where my Grandparents and a lot of 1st and 2nd generation Japanese/Americans rest.

They built this Byodo-In Temple in 1968 and it has a 9 foot (2.7m) Buddha inside.  Can you believe this temple was built without using any nails?  Incredible!

It’s so cool to see Japanese culture that was introduced many years ago.  My Grandpa took me into this room 45 years ago so it’s been a very long time since going back.  I felt so at peace in there.
