The Long Drive Back…

Super cool surfers.  Kimura-san and Mori-san.  Mori-san was the one that invited us and showed us the East coast of Taiwan well over 10 years ago.  He knows everything about this place so most of the waves we scored was because of him.  Thank you Mori-san!

Making the long 6 hour drive back to Taipei.  Stopping along the way eating and eating.  The breakfast pancakes here are amazing.  And only cost $2.

After lots of walking, it was time for a foot massage, Taiwan style.

Drinking a boba tea everyday is mandatory.  A big selection that keeps you wanting to try more and more.

When we passed by this street, I already knew what was going to happen.

What do you think?  You have this cool sculpture and a 72 year old child with you.

Yes, like I said, I knew exactly what was going to happen.  So no, I’m not surprised.  Haha.

Shark Sashimi?

It’s been a long trip so far.  Seems like we left a month ago.  Lots of good food, good waves, and good memories along the way.  This is what surf trips are all about.

Imagine pulling up to this crazy left and nobody’s out?  You have to take off and go full speed throughout the whole wave.  It’s pretty much make or break on the low tide.  One flaw or mistake you might end up on the rocks.

I was waiting for the waves like this that would go wide because it would race down the reef a little faster.  There’s only enough time for quick turns like this.  And once you complete the turn, you have to fly down the wave and get ready for another one.  On a wave like this, you can do about 5-7 speedy turns.   Thank goodness I brought the right board.  So if you want to surf this wave, you better bring the fastest board you have.

If you eat as much as we are, you better take 10,000 steps/day.  Then you can eat again right after.  The food here is so good that you can’t stop eating and eating.

We stopped by this fishing port to check out the daily catch.  Seem like a lot of big marlins out here.  Much bigger than the little shirasu Kimura-san usually sees.

They clean the fish right on the ground there.  Nobody usually eats marlin sashimi in Hawaii but it’s a delicacy here.  I tried it and it was pretty good.

They also eat a lot of shark here too.  This is one fish I would never eat.  I wouldn’t feel safe in the ocean again if I did.

What is this?  Anyway, the food is tasty, cheap, and endless.  Between the beef noodle soups and boba tea, we are eating everything in sight.  Better take a little more steps today to burn off the calories.  Have a good one!

Romantic Taiwan

The culture is pretty beautiful.  Lots of temples and lots of colors.  Just walking by one is amazing.

Fresh fruit juice for $2.  Great breakfast drink.

Try everything and decide.

Taiwan yakitori.

This was my favorite.  Fresh cut guava!

Mixed with li hing powder or lilikoi.  Or both!

Romantic 202 is for Kimura-san.  The lonely room.  Haha.
