See the Fish?

i was checking the ocean all day long and when i saw the sky turn blue, i knew the wind will turn offshore and the waves will get good. so i texted Seira-chan “get ready, let’s go!” soon after, she was on her first wave…
very smooth and nice surfing.
when the waves get onshore, nobody surfs Bowls. but when the winds turn offshore, the waves get really good and still nobody surfs Bowls because they are probably working. haha. we had the whole lineup to ourselves for 2 hours. so lucky!
then the school of Omilu swim right under me. they were huge! happy to see them again…
imagine coming to Hawaii and surfing one of the most localized and crowded spot on the South Shore all to yourself? either this girl is super lucky, or this girl is super lucky. surfing Bowls with nobody out for 2 hours like this is unheard of…
now that Seira-chan has her frontside cutbacks down, she’s now practicing on the backside ones.
once again, perfect form…
so nice! after we went in, Seira-chan was disappointed in her surfing because she felt like she could have done better. here’s what i think “of course we can all do better, but there is tomorrow for that. and that’s something to look forward too!”

All Day @ DH!

so good to see Mai-chan back in Hawaii!   we had lots of catching up because a lot has happened in the past year.  and the best way to catch up is in the ocean!

this is the first time i took her out at Diamond Head.  the reason was because Mai-chan lives in the busy city of Osaka.  so even though she wanted to surf at her home spot Bowls,  i wanted to take her where she won’t see buildings and tourists.   and this was the right place for that!

good to see Dave out ripping on his foil.  he’s one of the first guys foiling at Diamond Head so lots of respect for this guy!

i let my friend Keone try one wave on my foil and now he’s hooked again. haha…

i’ve been trying to get better at shooting from my foil.  so that’s one of the reasons i’m practicing because i don’t want to run over the people i take photos of.  haha…

this is my custom drone shot i love to get.  i can coach, foil, and take photos all at the same time.   it’s called multi-tasking.  and when everything comes together like this, the results are amazing!

i have to trust Mai-chan to surf good, and i have to trust myself not to fall.  if either or goes wrong, it won’t be good at all.   anyway, beautiful surfing girl!

the first thing Mai-chan wanted to eat after being away from Hawaii for 6 months was:  a poke bowl from Ono Seafood!

then went to pick up Seira-chan and didn’t ask her where she wanted to surf because i knew there was only one choice today.

bigger and cleaner than yesterday.  Diamond Head was at its best and we took full advantage of that!

The perfect bottom turn @ Ala Moana Bowls…

Good morning 5:45am.
North shore head high and clean offshore.
Ala Moana waist high and clean.
Diamond Head chest high and good.
Light offshore winds this morning becoming onshore this afternoon.
Sunny and warm. Just like Summer again!
Going surfing and surfing.
Have a wonderful day!
