today we tried something different. we took out 3 different surfboards and tried to connect. i told the girls that they had to ride all 3 surfboards. and on the first 2 waves of each surfboard they ride, they can’t fall. if they fall, they have to do 20 pushups on the beach. so if they fell on all 6 waves, that would be a total of 120 pushups on the soft sand. that got their attention because they did really good.

Board 1: 9’0 high performance longboard.

Board 2: 7’4 fish.

Board 3: 9’6 stable longboard.

out of the 12 waves the girls rode, only one fall. 20 pushups on the soft sand after a lot of surfing and paddling is challenging. but i don’t care. this is going to be my new Boot Camp rule because it worked so good. if you can jump on any board i bring to the beach and succeed, you’re going to be a well balanced surfer. it’s not easy to do, but when you master it, everything in life will also be easier to adapt to…

in my lifetime, i probably found about a hundred of these floating tubes in the ocean. they mostly get taken out to sea off Waikiki with the wind, then end up out at the Ala Moana area. if you don’t grab it, it will get taken out to the Pacific Ocean and never biodegrade. so when i grab one, i usually play around with it in the ocean like a little kid.

then i would try to catch a wave and the wave will smash me. it’s not that easy. in this case, the wave hit me so hard that i thought i injured my neck.

it’s impossible to swim with this and your surfboard in to the beach, so the best thing to do is deflate it and tuck it in your surf trunks. then take it to the beach and throw it away. i don’t give these away anymore because it might end up in the ocean again. can you imagine how many are floating around in the ocean right now? probably in the millions!!!

i’m super grateful for foiling because it taught me how to be a better surfer. i can read the ocean a 100 times better, i have more confidence, and when the longboards catch too many waves, i can grab my foil and catch a 100 times more waves then them. haha.
