2002 Never Forget

203

Bali is a very spiritual place to be.  people are praying to the temples, to the gods, to the mountains, and to the sea.  it’s so beautiful to see…

i took a drive down to Kuta early in the morning to avoid traffic.   i can’t believe how much Legian street has changed…

i stopped by the Ground Zero Memorial where the Bali Bomb was set off by terrorists back on October 12, 2002.  that was exactly 17 years ago where many lives has changed.  202 people from over 22 nationalities died that night.

this is where the Sari Club use to be.  a club my friends and i use to end up every single night when we stayed in Kuta.  so yeah, i’ve been there more than a hundred of times with all the boys having a great time after getting barreled all day.  it was full of happy memories and lots of drunk people having a great time  it was the most popular club during that time and if you went to Bali in the 90’s, i would have probably seen you there.  anyway, at midnight on a very busy night, a terrorist parked his truck right in front of the club and blew it up…

the empty lot is still there with just a few plants growing in front.  i don’t know if they ever will, or should rebuild there.  it’s a very strange feeling when i pass there and kind of hard to explain.  mixed emotions with deep chills to the bone.  just the fact that it could have happened to any one of us…

this Father and Brother just put a memorial photo of his 2 daughters that died that night.  a very sad moment for everyone…
