another beautiful refreshing morning at Bowls.
good to see the everyday morning crew enjoining life. Jerome smiling all the way…
by 6am, the lineup looks like this. and remember that there are no tourists now so expect double when Hawaii opens up again.
Kupe always getting the best waves of the day.
Kelia’s husband Joe on the nose. so happy to see him out there this morning.
**this morning, i almost witnessed a deadly accident. i took off on a wave at Bowls and one of the girls on her bodyboard decided to ride behind me. wrong! i was on my foil and when she tried to catch me up, i fell and my foil almost hit her face. when she paddled out i told her that was dangerous. i told her never to trust my surfing whether i’m on a shortboard, longboard, or foil board. never take off behind me because if i fall, you will either have fins or a foil coming right at you. i teach all my students never to take off behind a surfer or anybody. the reason is you are literally riding behind razor sharp fins that can cut you up if the guy in front falls. it’s not worth taking the risk so just let the guy go, especially if he is local. so everybody please be careful. just because you are behind, that doesn’t mean you have priority. that only works in contests. and this morning, there was no contest at Bowls…
