Honolulu airport was very empty. i checked in to ANA and it took me 2 minutes. surfboards go free on ANA so that’s why i chose it this time. so smooth…
usually i go to Japan with a backpack but this time i took everything. i want to be ready for everything. it’s the first time in 10 years where i’m focusing on surf, surf, and surf. everything else will have to around that. it sounds pretty selfish but in reality, only a surfer knows the feeling.
passed by Ala Moana and checked the waves. it looked super fun!
Diamond Head was good too. my eyes were stuck on the waves and sailboats. it was so beautiful. then i closed my eyes and fell into a deep dream…
nobody wears masks in Hawaii anymore. BUT, once you board ANA, they require you to wear a mask on the whole flight. and when you get to Japan, every single person is wearing a mask. so if you come to Japan, please respect their rules and wear a mask too.
i got so excited when i saw the tip of Chiba. i was checking the waves and i heard there’s a swell coming this weekend!
before you enter Japan, download the app “My SOS” and fill out the information. you will need this to get into Japan. if you forget, you will be stuck at the airport for a very long time trying to figure this out. it’s easy, but it does take a lot of time. so do it before you leave Hawaii. when i arrived, i was about 300 people behind in line. then 15 minutes later, there were 700 people behind me. so at one point, there were 1000 people in line. i guess it’s because today was the first day Japan opened since the pandemic. anyway, it took me 1 hour to get out of the airport. not too bad. just please be patient…
