surfing in Sendai is a privilege. to be accepted and welcomed at such a magical place feels wonderful. it was 30 years ago when Tokura-san took me there for the first time. ever since, i had a close connection with Sendai and the locals. Toru-san is always welcoming and if i ever got into trouble in Sendai, all i have to say is “i’m Toru-san’s friend” and nobody will touch me. haha, just joking. having dinner, eating good food, and laughing out loud. thank you Toru-san and Motoko-san for inviting us into your house. thank you Tokura-san for showing me the deepest surf culture in Japan for the past 30 years. you guys are all family to me.
the people you meet and the friends you become is priceless. Toda-san and Takami-san were part of We Are One since the beginning. and in the beginning, it was Ryoko-san that brought us here. she introduced us to the most amazing people in Ishimomaki who’ve become not only friends to us, but more like family.
these are my brothers and sisters that i will love for the rest of my life…
