My eyes were glued to the TV all morning. The Na Wahine O Ke Kai race from Molokai to Oahu was telecasted live. The production of the event was top quality. Not surprising as my classmate and friend Mike Pricket’s company Salt and Air Studios was filming it. From the start of the beautiful island of Molokai all the way to Oahu was beautiful.
The 42 mile race course I’m very familiar because that’s the exact course I take when going to Molokai. I learned so much by listening to the expert commentary by paddling legends. The wind, the swells, the current, and the strategy was very interesting.
Super stoked to see Team Japan participating in this event. I don’t care how you get across but crossing that dangerous channel is a huge accomplishment in itself.
The happy ending. I watched it for 7 hours straight and thought the girls were amazing, and the production was amazing. This was actually the first time I watched a race like this live on TV not my last.
Congratulations to Team Bradley for winning the competition. And congratulations to Malia Mizuno for her first channel crossing and her first WIN! Respect for all the girls for their accomplishment. And congratulations for Mike Prickett for the amazing production. It was top quality!
