what is a komodo dragon?
Komodo dragons grow to 10 feet long and weigh more than 300 pounds. They have sharp claws and shark-like teeth — but if an animal escapes from their mouths, the dragon’s saliva has bacteria in it that poisons its victims within 24 hours. Komodo dragons have a wide diet, including dead animals, deer, water buffalo, pigs and humans. They also eat humans as hundreds of people disappear on the Komodo infested island.
i went to Komodo island 3 years ago and it felt like i was in a documentary for national geographic. there were dragons everywhere and we seen a dragon kill a sheep and some chickens, they all went into a frenzy. i was shooting photos and taking video at the same time and i couldn’t believe what i saw. see the guy in the photo? he’s one of the care takers of the island and just started working there. he was walking by us and out of the corner, i seen a huge dragon heading for him!
that dragon had to be 8′ long. if he bites you, you will die. many children get killed each year and if you seen how these dragons could devour a sheep in 10 minutes you would freak. i seen 10 dragons fighting and ripping up a sheep like it was a paper bag.
anyway, back to the caretaker. he was walking along like a normal day, then all of a sudden, a dragon started picking up speed and charging after him. dragons can run super fast and when he was about to bite the caretaker, he turned around and hit him on the head with a stick. the dragon was fighting for his dinner, and the caretaker was fighting for his life. it was man vs. wild and wild almost won. i was totally stunned on what just happened. i’m not afraid of giant sharks, but i’m totally afraid of giant lizards. that was such a crazy moment and i have it all on video. will post a youtube in the future.
if you ever go to komodo island, please be careful as you are in the komodo dragon’s world. as for me, i will never ever go there again because i saw too much. no thank you!
