Kyle was the “Ono” magnet. he shot 3 in the tournament! we ended up getting 2nd place as the local mexican team won. we only lost by 5lbs. can you believe Kyle and I speared 232lbs or 105 kilos of fish in the 2 day tournament? that’s crazy!

these mexican pargos can kill you. diving so deep, spearing them in deep caves, and wrestling them up was an experience. i swear i almost blacked out more than once. every time i went down to get one, i made sure kyle was watching me the whole time because i felt like i was over pushing my limits. when you come up and see stars and don’t know where you are and what you’re doing, that’s bad. i think surfing a 40′ wave is much easier than spearing one of these fish. thanks Cat for the photo.

all the boats have to be in by 4pm or your team is disqualified. we caught our last fish at 3:30 on an outer island, and barely made it back by 4. 3:55pm to be exact. i’m sure the 2 mexicans on the right weren’t glad to see us make it back on time. haha. we were just taunting each other throughout the whole tournament. it’s all about having fun.

Juan Palma and David Vacimo were the local mexican team. Palma came from mexico city and David came from Cancun. these guys are top level divers that spear huge marlins, huge tuna, and huge pargos. i had such a great time with these guys everyday. just pure super cool mexicans that know how to have a great time. thanks James for the photo.

kind of bummed that our Tohoku mission got postponed. the schedules of the people we were to visit just didn’t work out. we will just have to try again in september. so that means i have the next 4 days off. i checked for typhoons and none to be found so i decided not to go to japan. i was supposed to leave mexico today but will stay here another day for a dive. then tomorrow going to atlanta for a transit to somewhere i still don’t know where. have an overnight transit so anybody know a good place to eat in atlanta? feel like eating a big juicy steak!
5:30am now and i better get going. heading out to the north side of the island and hope to see different things. have a wonderful day amigos!
