ROOKIE OF THE YEAR…

231

good mid-morning. what a pleasant flight i had to japan. i watched 3 amazing movies, ate good food, and got treated like i was special. the delta staff is really friendly.
then we landed in osaka. i was in the front of the airplane so i got off first. then i headed toward the first door and i thought something was strange. it was closed….

and locked too. i couldn’t open it and the passengers started to fill the hallway behind me. i kept on trying and when i looked back, there were 300 people behind me and i was the only one making an attempt to open the door. where’s the staff? nobody was there and it started getting hot. i flagged down a security on the other side of the locked door and he made a call. it was weird because everyone was quiet. i think people were just wondering what the heck was going on. 15 long minutes later, a staff came to the door and as soon as she opened it, the cool air came in and the anger broke out. all i could hear is people yelling “hayaku akete bakayaro!!!” which means, hurry up and open the freaking door!!! the crowd got pissed and i felt sorry for the girl. everybody was just yelling at her…

then we had to take an escalator up to the customs but it wasn’t working too. me? i just walked up. but most of the people were yelling at the poor girl telling her to turn it on. i wouldn’t have been surprised if somebody hit her. it was pretty intense… hey people, mistakes happen. why let it ruin your day? just take a deep breath like i did, just walk and smile. your in japan!

kimura-san picks me up in my porsche. i’m glad he’s taking care of it for me. haha… then we head straight to my favorite place, USHIRO. we ate, drank, ate, and drank. can you believe that’s the first time i drank since the last time i was in japan? the past 10 days, i didn’t even take a sip of alcohol. i feel like a fresh boy….

then i get an email from nao-chan. i always ask nao-chan to send me her results because i’m keeping track of it. since the first time she came to hawaii 5 years ago, i knew she was going to be a champion. i think i wrote it in a blog back then. look at her now! she won 2 back to back JPSA pro contest, the seasons not even over and she’s already named the “rookie of the year,” and also crowned “JPSA Grand Champion.” what’s next? world champion!!! i think she can do it! go nao omura!!!
