4th of July Photo Day!

today was very interesting. i knew there was a big flotilla party outside waikiki and since i had the afternoon off, i figure why not go check it out. i call Bobby, we jump on Mayuki, and headed toward the biggest ocean party in the world! it was crazy! and lucky i didn’t run anybody over.

this is pretty far off waikiki. most people swim out, paddle out, or hitch hike out. hundreds of party people mostly all drunk having a good time. loud music and a lot of dirty dancing. i’ve gone to a lot of flotilla’s throughout the years and all i have to say is: the music is louder, the people are younger, the alcohol is all over, and the bikinis are getting smaller and smaller.

i’m getting too old for this but being the people watcher i am, i had a great time.

i’m surprised nobody drowns during one of these events. it’s pretty crazy and something worth seeing once in your life.

had a great time with Bobby and Alika.

as evening set, the alcohol started to take affect on many. people kept getting closer and closer to the boat. it was time to pull up the anchor and go surfing! i knew the sun was setting and the waves were good!

first i pick up the girls and take them to the most crowded and most empty spot in the world, Bowls. on a usual holiday, it is packed!!! this evening, we surfed it all alone!!! why? because of the fireworks show, there was no parking. lucky us!!!! then when the sun started to set, we all went back to the boat and took out the cameras. and even though i hardly drink these days, i had to drink a beer! it was awesome!

then the firework show started and got to see it right from the ocean. the best way to see fireworks in hawaii.

then the police came and ruined our night.

but hey, the sunset was one of the most colorful sunsets i’ve seen in a long time.
it’s almost midnight and i have to work tomorrow so better get to sleep. another satisfying long day that i will remember forever. thank you hawaii!
