last night was amazing! to sit on the green grass at the waikiki shell listening to 3 of my favorite bands of all time with my buddies. can’t ask for more. the music went on for 4 hours and the chicken skin was everywhere!
Holli and Carter have been my best of friends ever since 7th grade or 12 years old. two people i can always depend on and two people that always keep me in place. the memories we had throughout the past 36 years is gold. and our friendship is unbreakable!
Holli was always the one that prepared for things. it was supposed to rain so she brought out 3 rain jackets out of her bag just in case. on the right, that is the rain jackets i prepared for and pulled out of my pocket. rubbish bags just in case. haha. what would i do without Holli?
ok, so we find a big area and sit on the lawn. before we found a place, we made sure that we weren’t blocking anyone. that’s just local style.
then these 2 people walk by and sit right in front of us and block our view! they pull up, don’t even care, and just block our view! there was so much open space everywhere but they had to sit directly in front of us. i couldn’t believe it! i told Holli, “see, this isn’t hawaiian style. this couple isn’t from hawaii. us locals here always respect each others space. obviously, they didn’t care that we were already sitting down. up until a few years ago, i would have said something like “eeh, you think you’re made out of glass? beat it!” but since i’m finally grown up, i keep my mouth shut.
then when they went to buy a beer, i got up and moved their blanket to the right. haha.
the sun was setting and it couldn’t have been any better than this! reminds me of 30 plus years ago doing the exact same thing.
it was packed! super stoked to see so many old schoolers there enjoying the moment under the stars at the waikiki shell!
Christoper Cross sang “Sailing” and i almost melted. Sailing is one of my all time favorite song. everything i go sailing, i’m humming that song in my head and it makes me extremely happy! the saxophone guy is from japan. he was amazing!
then it was a very late dinner for us. more beer, more laughs, and more good friends.
i was craving ramen so i ordered the charsiu ramen. big mistake! not the best. made me really miss japan even more. i want japan!
