when i custom ordered seats for Mayuki, i ordered the best. at $500/each, you would be expecting top quality right? well, that’s what i thought.
when i was sitting on the seat yesterday, i felt something sagging. i took a closer look and the seat was falling apart!
it’s unbelievable how a big marine seat company can make such bad decisions. who ever thought of using cheap thin plywood for the base of the seat was crazy! the base holds the whole seat together and it doesn’t take a genius to know that using plywood is the worst. eventually it will rot right? right! i’m just glad nobody fell off the seat and got hurt.
so i took both seats off, threw it in the truck, and brought it home. i called the seat company and thought about ordering a new base. then i thought it will guarantee be the exact same thin wood base. so instead, had to go with the other option, which was to make it the right way myself.
so i took the seat apart into pieces, then my brother helped me out and found a solution.
so it was going to hardware store to hardware store looking for the right material. i went to 6 stores this morning and along the way, dropped my credit card somewhere. where? i don’t know. so if you find a credit card with my name on it, please buy me a beer. haha. but i’m sure somebody is having fun with it.
then i spent the whole day working on the seats. had to think, fabricate, paint, and hope. i will probably be up late tonight in my garage putting it back together. i still can’t believe that seat company is making such expensive low quality products. shame on you guys!
