it’s unbelievable how many friends i meet all over japan. in our surfing world, everybody knows everybody. so going anywhere in japan, you will always bump into people you know. and niseko is no different. want to say hello to Onose-san and Team Wedge from ibaraki. also to Omu-san who always has the positive vibe. good to see you hard core surfers ripping the powder!
this morning was storming rain and snow. the conditions were pretty bad but there was no way i was going to get locked up in my room. Takahashi-san picked me up and took me to another big mountain nearby. it was like a blizzard!
i’m totally motionless because by body is frozen half the time and can’t move. thank goodness Takahashi-san is doing everything for me.
once we hit the mountain, my body froze even more. i was pretty much rolling head over heals down. goggles full of ice, blind, face frozen, frost bite, ears numb, and almost a broken heart. Takahashi-san was laughing at me but i was never going to give up. never! and once i got back on my feet, i felt like i was surfing 15′ west wind onshore pipeline. it was that crazy!
but after every ride, there is always a smile. i’m learning even more about my job back in hawaii. if i can give this feeling to everybody i take surfing, then i’ve done my job. thank you Takahashi-san for the experience, for the photos, and for never giving up on me.
then we all went for a hot miso butter ramen. omg, so good!!!
want to say hello to all my friends from the top of the world! i really needed this vacation! i’m so happy i came to the powder, the storm, and to the warmth of my friends from all around japan. there is no other place i’d rather be right now.
another day gone, and another day to come! life is great!
