Okada-san and his son Ikumaru-kun came right off the airplane from Japan in the morning. then i went to pick them up and took them surfing. imagine coming to Hawaii for the first time and surfing in Hawaii for the first time. talk about culture shock?
not only was it Ikumaru-kun’s first time to Hawaii, it was his first time surfing in his 19 year old life. he was super excited to get started.
the first wave i pushed him into, then he started riding waves all by himself. i couldn’t believe how good he was!
Okada-san surfs super good. surfing in Japan for years and it showed in his ability. this is perfect.
if i lived in Japan for my whole life, then came to Hawaii for the first time and surfed the first day, i would trip out. and i would move here! haha.
Ikumaru-kun is hooked for sure. he was yelling the whole ride!

then went to get a coffee and tea.
then took a spin around the beautiful Diamond Head. want to congratulate you guys on a great afternoon of surfing. and very smart thinking of coming to Hawaii and not wasting anytime to get into the water. that’s my kind of traveling!
then woke up early this morning and took Ito-san surfing. another awesome guy, and another awesome session!
