Boiled Fish and Rock Oysters

283

waking up to little boiled fish, Yamari style!

simple and healthy morning breakfast. thank you Atsuko-san!

this is my creation. hot rice, shirasu, natto, all covered with a raw egg! omg!

when i hear the siren, i go down to the local fish auction. totally different than Tsukiji Market. haha.

this is how shirasu looks when it comes out of the ocean. i felt like grabbing a handful and putting it in my mouth.

and this is how it looks after they boil it. i felt like putting a handful in my mouth too.

a Japanese delicacy.

yes, i know it’s winter in Japan. but when i see ocean, all i want to do is surf or dive. so since there’s no surf, it was dive.

good to have local fisherman friends. because if you don’t, you can’t do things like this here. thank you Waka-san and Midori-san for taking us out for our little adventure.

yes everybody, it was freezing cold. but i had my Dove 3mm wetsuit to keep me warm. water was clean, oysters everywhere, and we had a great time.

hammer and chisel. a necessity for picking the best oysters in the world.

loaded just enough for dinner. wait till you see how we ate all this!
