i bought my first professional camera when go-naminori started, which was about 5 years ago. after i got my first photo was published in a magazine, i got hooked. i worked harder and harder to get more and more photos published in the mainstream magazines around the world. after about 8 published cover shots and 2 book covers published, i couldn’t ask for anything more. well, until this book came out.
angela maki vernon came out with a book called “Love Hawaii.” it was a huge project that we spent days in and days out shooting. shooting from various locations in hawaii, we got some pretty cool photos. this cover shot photo was taken at a secret location somewhere on oahu. i remember the day as it was yesterday. we pulled up to a white sandy beach, maki-chan sat on her board on the edge of beach, tiare styled her out, i shot a few photos, and this is the outcome. a beautiful local surfer girl on the most beautiful beach in hawaii. what more could you ask for?
love hawaii is a guide book and photo book filled with lots of secrets about hawaii. i think i counted 80 photos that was published in this book making it one of my biggest projects as a photographer. it was hard work but when i saw the outcome, i couldn’t be any happier. congratulations maki-chan on your successful hawaii guide book. i remember you telling me about this dream when i first met you. i’m stoked it came true for you! i love the book but to be honest, you introduced a couple of my secret spots! oh my gosh!!! haha.
