Had an amazing morning surfing with Uchiyama-san.  Her first time to Hawaii and her first time riding so many long waves.  Nice rides, nice cutbacks, and nice smile.  

She came to Hawaii at the perfect time because the waves were good and the sky was blue again!  Lucky girl.

This girls surfboard is getting shorter and shorter.  Now she can push it harder and make it go faster.

Came home to see my brother fixing another car.  I still don’t understand how he can take this apart and put it all back together again.  I would be scared to see my car looking like that.  Haha.  

Round 2 guess where?  Yes, we all knew that Diamond Head would be perfect with these light winds.  

The girls walking on the reef like they’re walking at a shopping mall.  Strong feet and strong minds.

I was watching about 8 whales swimming by so peacefully.  

It suddenly got very crowded.  The girls hunted a few more waves and came in.  One year ago they didn’t know how to surf here.  But now, they can go out by themselves and catch a lot of good waves even when it’s crowded. They know how to hunt.

Always Look Forward!

After practicing rock climbing every morning at Bowls, we went to go test out the progress yesterday.  This place is super wild.  The rocks are slippery and the waves are big.  You have to walk properly while timing the sets that crash on the rocks.  I’ve seen so many people fail here over the years.  Big cuts, broken bones, and shattered egos.  This is a place you don’t have time to doubt yourself.  You just have to trust yourself and JUMP!

OMG, another mistimed jump.  Luckily there wasn’t a wave behind to push her back into the rocks.  That would have been ugly.  Looking a lot better than last time but still work in progress.

It was time for the next one.  The first time for this girl as she was very uncomfortable in a very uncomfortable place.  Doing this will only make you stronger.  

It was rough but we managed to get a few really good waves.  And everyone was happy that the sun was shining again.  

Life in a bikini.  Can’t beat it.  

When I say paddle, you better paddle hard like this.  You will be rewarded!  

The water is really clear out here.  It’s one place on the island that never gets dirty.  This is my power spot and now the girls understand why.
