SPINNA B-ILL ACOUSTIC LIVE…
good morning. 7:30 am on this cold saturday morning. waves came up on the north shore but kind of junky conditions. town is flat. heard sandy beach is 3′. i’m going surfing somewhere today. feel like riding a medium sized board and just ride the waves. oh, does anybody know where i can get a christmas tree? or can i come cut the top part off yours? i just need a small one.. haha… it sucks not waking up to that christmas tree smell… merry christmas!!!

i was just checking out GO-NAMINORI.COM and seen this poster for the new topics. this guy caught my eye because i could have swore i’ve seen him before…. where? i just couldn’t figure it out. but after a while, it clicked….

i meet spinna b-ill at the TSSC users contest last year in shikoku. that’s him on the far right. he came to the barbecue and played live. it’s amazing after all the jacksan i had, i could remember… haha..
**japan is kind of different than hawaii. you bump into famous local people here in hawaii and it’s pretty much nothing. it’s an everyday thing. in japan, it’s different. if there is a famous person around, they will get mobbed by people wanting to take their photo or try to get an autograph. i don’t know who is who in japan because i don’t watch tv, or read magazines. so if a famous person walked by me, i wouldn’t even know.
oh wait!! i take that back. there are a couple of japanese famous people i know from a long time ago when i use to watch tv. in fact, i went to a house party the other night and anna umemiya was there. i walked in and she was right there sitting in the living room. oh my gosh. it was weird because i only saw her on tv before and to see her in person, it felt strange. i was so nervous i couldn’t even say hello. no i didn’t get a photo, and no i didn’t get an autograph. i have that stored in my memory… forever…. haha…

and last, i was hungry last night when i got back from diving. so i opened my refrigerator, oh, i mean cooler, grabbed 2 fish out, cut it up, and made sashimi. from the ocean to the dinner table. can’t beat that!! and my beer? oh did it taste so great!![:?????????:]

Faith Surf School….
good evening. yes, yes, yes… i feel great. i came back from my long year of trips feeling so out of shape and unhealthy. traveling shocks your body by eating at all different times, all different kinds of food, and all the beers and late night ramen stops. this year was no exception and after hurting my shoulder in august, and my 2 surgeries, i felt helpless. all i could do was to eat to forget about the pain. so when i got back to hawaii about 2 weeks ago, i jumped on the scale and almost had a heart attack. i gained 10 lbs. of fat. and i felt so unhealthy and out of shape. so i’ve been working out, surfing, diving, running, yoga, and other things to get back into shape before the north shore season. right now, i feel great. i free dove all day and my body and mind are almost back to where it use to be. by new years day, i’ll be 100%. can’t wait…..

i haven’t seen a tako for a long time. today, kyle caught a big one!! great for tako poke!!!

i called ryo last night and asked if he wanted to come. “of course” was his answer and he dove with us all day, until blood started coming out of his nose…
today’s dive log: left home at 7:30 am. got to hawaii kai before 8. put my boat in the water, tried to start it up, and what a shocker!! dead battery!!! oh my gosh!! so i ended up taking the battery out of my car and used it today. first dive: check a ulua hole. no big fish, only turtles and a shark. next, check a mempachi hole. caught 12 or so and headed out to deep blue sea. third dive, 75′ deep water. i couldn’t believe i hit the bottom so easy. the last time i was out there, i had a hard time going all the way down. today, it was so easy. i guess my mental part of me is getting strong. speared a bunch of fish. 4th dive in the inside reef. dirty water but got a kumu. 5th dive out to a ledge where kyle got his tako. 6th dive, back to the ulua hole. seen the biggest turtle i’ve ever seen in my life in the hole. i wanted to jump on his back and ride him out but he looked too relaxed so i didn’t. came back in at 3:30 pm to wash boat. we speared a lot of fish today, loaded up the cooler with a variety of good eating fish, including mempachi, kumu, ala ii, opelu kala, roy, koke, and tako. besides the dead battery, my boat is running good. great dive day!!!

meet my sister tammy moniz and my brother-in-law tony moniz. they’ve been running a surf school down at the marriott hotel for the past 10 years. tammy and tony are licensed and qualified to teach surfing. there are many surf schools down at waikiki that don’t have qualified instructors. so don’t take the chance, go to faith surf school. tony taught me how to surf big waves, and tammy taught me how to be nice. that’s why i surf, and that’s why i’m nice. haha…
