Swell Clouds…

Killer Tiger Shark SPEARED??

good aloha friday morning. 6:30am and freezing cold again. waves junky on the north shore again. town is really clean but small. today is a day to eat fresh fish!!! have a nice day!!

i was watching the news yesterday and seen a story on free diving. so of course, i tuned in. here’s 2 guys blue water freediving in mexico for tuna. then along comes a hungry 12′ tiger shark. so what is it? kill, or be killed?

kill. that’s what these divers did. me, i’d spear it if it comes for me, get back on my boat, and let the shark take my speargun…. putting more shots in it to kill it? ummm, why? for the photo? ummm… killing sharks is a touch subject for me. remember, we are just visitors….

these incredible photos were taken by D.J. Struntz…

if this tiger shark wakes up and the diver gets tangled in the line, good bye diver. being from hawaii, i don’t believe in killing sharks. it’s like messing with hawaiian karma… scary…

i heard makana cafe is selling one of kelia’s own used surfboards. maybe i should buy it and sell it for more? haha… CLICK HERE FOR MAKANA CAFE….

Big Fish, and Big Rainbow….

good evening. i woke up this morning and when i looked out my window, this is what i saw. blue skies and a nice rainbow. then i went outside to get my boat ready for a dive. as soon as i opened my house door, i was freezing my ass. it was sooo cold today…

i have some charts of the whole island and reefs at my house. i was checking it out this morning. this is how i find dive spots, reefs, and fish…

and when you have your secret spots, you catch fish. i don’t think kyle knew that he was going to catch his biggest kumu ever today. i say solid 3.25lbs or more. we were out about a mile out to see in 80′ deep water. klye dove down 80′ when he saw the fish sleeping outside of a hole. he approached the hole, woke the fish up, then speared it. the fish pulled him around for 30 seconds but he didn’t want to let go of the most prized and hardest to catch fish in hawaii. a lot of work for this fish but well worth it… kyle and his family are going to have a great dinner tonight…

ryo is from japan but is a attending UH as a graduate student. an active member of the surfrider foundation, an active surfer, and an active diver. ryo is active. he must have speared 25 fish today, including 2 tako. great job ryo…

all 3 of us were freezing on the boat. as soon as i jumped in my car, i put the heater on. this is the 2nd time in my entire life i used my car heater in hawaii. tomorrow might be the 3rd… got many of stories, many of thoughts, and many of dreams. but too tired right now. going to hit the bed and sleep like a little baby. nobody better bother me… goodnight…[][]
**by the way, i made up kyle’s story. the fish was actually sleeping in a hole in 6′ deep water. he went down, shot it, and that was it. that easy. what a lucky guy… haha…
