Yoko Furuichi- Mystery Girl…

good morning. best bet for surfing is probably sandy beach again. nothing else to talk about the surf so let’s talk about something else, kelly slater and yoko furuichi….

kelly slater is riding a 5’4 this time. what’s next? kelly slater riding a skateboard in the water? only superman can do that, and kelly is superman. if he wins the contest on the 5’4, another 10,000 surfboards will be shaped the next day. thank you kelly slater for saving our surfboard industry….

yoko furuichi has been doing a blog on go-naminori for the past 2 years or so. i’ve been getting so many emails asking about her and so many friends here in hawaii asking about her too. to tell you the truth, i didn’t know too much about yoko myself. that’s why i always thought of her as “the mystery girl.” i met yoko for the first time a year ago in japan. it was weird because i knew so much about her through her blog, but then again, i didn’t know the real yoko. but now that i know the real yoko, i’ll tell a little about her. she’s a pro longboarder in japan that is beautiful, sweet, energetic, and so fun to be around. i guess it’s her positive thinking and energy that makes her the great person she is. there’s a lot more about her but that’s still a mystery. read her blog and try to figure it out….

i shot her one evening in town. i snapped 298 photos that day and all of them are keepers. yoko’s so photogenic that she looks good in any photo at any angle. makes a photographers job really easy. stay tuned on go-naminori for more photos. anyway, yoko’s off to australia for a longboard contest, then back to japan for the start of the JPSA season. this young, talented, and energetic girl has what it takes to make it to the top. watch out for this upcoming japanese surfer girl…

Secret Revealed and White Sandy Beach of Hawaii…

good evening. another windy day with stormy surf but if you knew where to look, you could have scored… east wind swell, north/east trade winds? yup, sandy beach…
Image016.jpeg
i pulled up there around 11am today and the waves were going off. overhead and only 3 surfers and one stand up paddler. i guess nobody knew the waves were good out there because nobody was around. today is saturday and sandy beach was the spot. only the other 4 surfers and me knew that…

even the shorebreak was fun. if i was a bodyboarder, i would be all over that. getting big barrels at sandy beach shorebreak is so fun….

then i went to check out diamond head and the waves were waist/chest high and weak. sandy’s was way better…

i wanted to thank abe-san for telling me where that secret spot on the last blog i posted was. i’m so stoked to have such nice people reading my blog. i will make it to your beautiful island someday. and if your there, let’s go surf and dive. or better yet, let’s go surf, dive, barbecue, and drink beer. hawaiian style… and i swear to you that i won’t tell anybody where it is. thanks for the email and photos… i’ll only post this one… nice fish….

and last, i caught this kid taking a piss on the side of the road today. shame on you…
**and last last, i’m still trying to catch up with emails and stuff. sunday and monday i dedicated to doing that so you’ll hear from me soon. thanks for understanding…
