Happy Winter Solstice Day!!!

good morning. yesterday marked winter solstice. it’s the day the northern hemisphere starts winter and the southern hemisphere starts summer. so we officially start our winter season and countries like australia and tahiti start their summer season. and last night was also the longest night of the year. so starting today, our days will get longer and longer. yeah!!! more time to surf and dive and have fun…

check out first light in chile….

The Disco presented by HIC, LOST, and HEAVYWATER…

good evening. headed to the north shore this morning for a surf, and hopefully a dive. surf, yes. dive, no way… the waves were 3′ and pretty fun but the water was still really dirty. so surf it was. pupukea was pretty fun and not too many people were out. driving home, oh my gosh!! the traffic was crazy….

micah and isaiah had chores today. wash the van before you surf. so they washed the van…

the other kids were outside on the street skateboarding. gosh, i was pretty amazed on how good they were….

kelia and her friend nage from kauai were getting ready to surf pupukea. i didn’t realize they were waiting for me to give them a ride. so i gave them a ride. then kelia dropped in on me, and nage paddled around me twice and snaked my waves. thanks girls. today might be the last time i take them surfing… haha…

if everybody surfs in your family. your garage will probably look like this. the moniz family north shore garage…

as i was driving past laniakea, i couldn’t believe that the water is still this dirty. and a dive friend of mine today told me that he hasn’t seen the water dirty for this long in 40 years. yeah, 40 years. and it probably won’t clean up for a long time more. we need our tradewinds and a big swell to wash and clean our ocean. hope it comes soon…

and last, The Disco surf party tonight at aloha tower. i better get out my dancing shoes… haha…
