Carissa Moore No moore Roxy….

good evening. gosh, it’s feeling like winter already. it was so cold all day today. windy and cold. the waves were stormy but still fun. i’m still tired from the hot days and nights in tahiti. anyway, gotta get going. have a safe evening…

after 8 years with Roxy, carissa moore changed sponsors. nike 6.0 and red bull stepped up and probably handed her a hefty contract. at 16 years old, carissa moore is on the right track. wait, doesn’t she go to punahou school? oh, that’s why…. go kaiser!! i mean punahou….

this is carissa ripping up haleiwa. imagine the load on this young girls shoulders now? i hope she wins every contest and becomes the youngest women’s world champ. or even men’s…. that’s how freaking good carissa surfs….

and last, i was checking out the camera yesterday at uchizuma beach, shikoku. i love staying at the club house overlooking the bay. i was only there for a few days this year and wished i could have been there a lot longer. it’s peace and quiet. if you want to check out the signs of the south swells hitting japan, uchizuma is the place to check. i know guys in shonan, wakayama, shonan, and chiba that look at the TSSC live camera. so do i. if you want to check it out for yourself, CLICK HERE AND THEN ON THE LIVE CAMERA BUTTON….

The Beautiful Tahitian Tiare…

good morning. 6am monday morning. waves in town look flat. north shore looking 3-4′ and a little bumpy. i’m going surfing. have a nice day…

this is the beautiful tahitian gardenia or better known as the “Tiare”. the tiare are in full bloom all year around and wherever you look in tahiti, you will see this beautiful sweet smelling flower. everybody who arrives in papeete airport is greeted with one.
now here’s the quiz.. which ear do you wear it in? our whole trip, none of us knew. well, i kind of knew but wasn’t 100% sure so we all ended up putting it on our right ear. only because our manini host gilles told us too. anyway, i just researched it and here’s the meaning when you place a flower on your ear….
Worn behind your right ear, it means you are single, available.
Worn behind your left ear : you are married, engaged or otherwise taken.
Worn behind both ears : you are married but still available.
Worn backward behind your right ear : you are available immediately.

so there it is, we were 7 single and available men in tahiti because we all had it behind our right ears the whole trip. i think gilles tricked us… haha… then on the last day, gilles’ wife angele gave me 2 flowers and placed one behind and the other backwards on my right ear. that meant i was single, available, immediately? wow, no wonder all the guys were asking me for my phone number… haha. go easy….

Early Christmas in Hawaii…

good evening. what a beautiful sunday here in hawaii. when i was flying in this morning, it was raining and looking pretty dark. then by noon, the blue sky popped out and it was paradise again. it took 5 hours to get back from tahiti and there is no time difference so it felt like coming back from the big island or something. i didn’t realize how close tahiti was so now i’m looking forward to going back there more often. just got to save some money because tahiti ain’t cheap….

i seen the christmas trees out in wallmart last week and thought it was kind of early. then today, i heard the first christmas song on the radio. christmas is a happy time in hawaii and brings people together. the best holiday of the year…

my brother and brandon went to pick opihi’s today. my brother comes home and gives me a bag, then i went up to brandon’s house this evening to practice shooting arrows and he gave me a bag too. 2 bags of opihi? i was like “shoots”… i’m stoked!!!

and this is the sunset this evening from aina koa ridge. pretty cool…

now i’m back in hawaii so the first thing i want to eat is japanese food. starting off with shrimp tempura. itakakimasu….

and last, check out our hotel pool in papeete overlooking moorea. i felt like a king staying over there….
**as for the waves here in hawaii, i heard that there was a good day at pipeline last week with 100 guys out. my friend out there called me today and told me that i missed out. after i told him i just got back from tahiti today, he said “oh sorry, you didn’t miss anything”… yeah i didn’t think so either… haha…
