**now i’m going to start to introduce the amazing 13 people that i spent 14 days with out in the middle of the indian ocean. no particular order but let me introduce one by one starting with renee.
i was super lucky to have met renee vento on our indo trip. renee’s from the virgin islands and lives in san diego, CA. she’s a professional photographer/bartender that has her masters degree in photography. in other words, she knows her shit. so you know me, i’m a master of questions. and boy did i have a lot of questions. like, how do you make a four horseman drink? a tequila sunrise? haha… just joking. i had hundreds of questions about photography and renee was nice enough to teach me some tricks. she takes awesome photos and is a great teacher. and she’s also the first chick that i seen shotgun a beer. thanks for the lessons renee….
renee also surfs and travels the world. i think that’s one of the reasons she is so positive about everything in life….
check out WWW.PHOTOVENTO.COM for some of renee’s awesome work…. thanks sensei….
Youtube going off PLUS Renee Vento Photography….
Japan Longboard Champion Blog: Kekoa Uemura…
good evening. what a beautiful day it was here in hawaii. i really felt like surfing today but know i can’t. should i wear my diving mask and try? why not right? but don’t want to push it. maybe next week when this patch comes off, i might give it a go. worked all morning on my computer making an ad for dove wetsuits. i’ll call it the one eye ad and if there is something wrong with it, sorry… but i’m starting to get use to using only one eye. i actually drove pretty good today. well, except for the motorcycle guy i almost hit turning left… i told you guys, i can’t see to the left…..
every time i pass by the zoo, i look for the giraffes. i trip out on how long their necks are. trippy animals yeah???
been getting a lot of emails about the okinawa article. thanks for reading it. and thanks for the comments. one of my friends in hawaii can’t believe this is okinawa. for me, i don’t care if people believe me or not. not my loss right???
when i was in bali, i tried this chilled avocado/coconut soup. it was kind of weird. good taste, but weird….
and last, wanted to welcome hawaiian longboard pro and japan longboard champion kekoa uemura to go-naminori. want to know how to become a champ, better check out his blog. CLICK HERE FOR KEKOA UEMURA BLOG. and wanted to congratulate kekoa again for winning the contest in miyazaki. another contest this weekend so check back for results….
Dream Away: Surf 1st Okinawa Surf Trip…
good morning. 6:30am thursday morning. small waves all over today. ah… now i can relax and not think about surfing. got so many things to do today so stay off the road because i’m driving. have a nice day….
garut’s going to be on tv today across america. check him out on fuel tv’s the Daily Habit airing today, October 16, at 9:00 pm Eastern Time (6:00 pm Pacific Time) and telecast three additional times. good job garut. oh, can somebody tape it for me please???
ok, it’s out. the new surf1st magazine ran the main article of our past okinawa trip. 24 pages. a trip i will never forget. why? because i had to write the story. not asked too, told too. haha… it was a couple of days till the deadline when i got the call from kinsan saying “you write the story”. he asked me before but i said no because i was too dam busy having fun. so he gave me 2 days to write the story and i just figured i’d write it like a blog. i usually take a few weeks to write a big story like that but this one, i pretty much did in one day. and now that it’s out, i’m glad i did it…. why? because it was my true honest feeling about okinawa and the people. it’s called “Dream Away” and that’s pretty much what i do when i’m there….
surf1st editor akai-san called me and told me that it’s the best story he’s ever read in his editorial career. that makes me freakin happy. especially because i just whipped it out. i thought it was kind of half/ass but now after i read it again, i wrote everything from deep down inside. so half/ass or not, that’s my true feelings of okinawa and will always be. go grab a copy and check it out because that’s probably the last article i will ever write for a surf magazine. i’m just too busy “Dreaming Away”…..
**i got a couple extra copies so if any of you in hawaii want to check it out, i’ll let you borrow it. just drop me an email and i’ll hook up with you. mahalo…
