Haisai Part 2

Trying to fit into the bottle.  Maybe I’m just a little too big.

The very first thing I order in Okinawa is sea grapes.  It’s called “umibudo.”  I like the way they explode in your mouth.

The next thing is bitter mellon.  This is called “goya champuru.”  Bitter but delicious.

Then of course, pigs feet!  This is called “ashitibichi.”  I suck every piece of meat off the pigs dirty feet.

I’ve been seeing a lot of these all around Japan.  Did you know that the spam musubi was invented by a Japanese/American resident of Hawaii?  Her name was Barbara Funamura.  This is one of the smartest inventions ever!

Classic Country Japan…

Cloudy and some rain.
Going to the sea.
Have a wonderful day!

One Day of Haisai

Now that I finally have time to remember my 2023 Cherry Blossom Japan Tour, I will start from the beginning again.  Okinawa was a free stopover so I won’t say no to that.  It was lovely…

Sabusoka is supposed to be where they invented soki soba.  That made me very interested.

And it didn’t disappoint.  It made me feel like I was really in Okinawa!

Not too many tourists now.  The last time I came here I could barely walk.

Fresh Okinawan produce.

Can’t leave Okinawa without taking a tourist photo in my pajamas.  Then it was off to the airport for next stop, Miyakojima!

I got to Diamond Head today and looked at the ocean.  Waves were head high and good but there were 40 surfers on the outside.  So I calculate:  If I surf, I will have to compete for waves.  In an hour, I’d be lucky to get 10.  Now if I foil, I can have the whole inside to myself.  Nobody to compete against and I can catch 50 waves in an hour.  So I foiled.  First wave I connected into 7 waves, then caught a few more with the last one all the way to the beach.  It was a 15 minute session with a total of 10 waves.  On top of that, I was flying!  I drove home a very happy man…
