Same Same Gorge

I was driving through the Takoro Gorge in Taiwan and there were fallen rocks everywhere.  Some massive landslides they’re still trying to clean up, and more rocks that seemed to just have fallen.  Honestly, I was pretty scared because I know if a rocks this big hits my car, I’m dead.  About 30 minutes into the drive, it was getting worst and worst so I turned around.  Then I had to drive 30 minutes on the same road back out.  I think that was the most terrifying part.  It took me 30 minutes to realize I wasn’t supposed to be in there?  It was always a place I wanted to visit, but never again.  After that, I checked to see if the park is open and here’s what it said:

The eastern side of the park, the Taroko Gorge section, is still closed due to earthquake severe damage and the high risk of falling rocks.  Please do not enter.

I was in Cambodia and ran out of clean t-shirts.  I went to the market and bought this one.  It was my favorite t-shirt for a while and I ended up giving it away.  Something I regret.

Same same, but different…

Japanese Purple Candy

In Hawaii, Christmas is all about family.  We gathered last night and had an amazing time.  After dinner just hanging out in the yard talking story and playing with all the kids.  I traveled the world at many times of the year but haven’t ever missed a Christmas and New Years in Hawaii.  It’s a very important time to gather and appreciate family and life.

Kelia, Seth, and Joshua are all grown adults now.  I sit back as they shuck my oysters.  Pretty cool that they can take care of me now.  Haha.  Then came the crab, then came the poke, then came dinner.  I was so full!

The hamachi kama was delicious!

If you ever come to Hawaii and want to make a kid happy, just bring them that purple grape candy Lava is about to try for the first time.  It’s from Japan and only cost about .30 cents.  It will make any kid smile, happy, and love you forever.  This is the moment she put one in her mouth.

Then she gave me the biggest smile and ate it all.  After that, she went walking around the house and stealing the other kids grape candy.  She must have ate about 3 rolls.  Haha.
