HSL Paddle and Swim Race

Early morning Boot Camp girls paddling out in the dark.

Paddling is very important so we practice, practice, and practice.  This girl can paddle faster than most surfers I know.  And her endurance is very high.  I’m pretty sure she can compete in the Molokai to Oahu paddle race.  And maybe even win her division.

We decided to surf a different spot today.  This spot barrels on the big and small days.  It’s very powerful, and very shallow.

And the locals will run you over if you get in their way.  So you better get out of Gary’s way!

I make the girls race by paddling their surfboard, and I make them race by swimming all the way in.  Each day they get stronger and stronger.   It’s kind of funny because just a few years ago, they couldn’t even swim.

Spent the afternoon working on Mayuki.  Put in a 100 gallons of gas so multiply that by $5.60/gallon.  Ouch.

Honolulu has turned into a luxury condo jungle.  Not too sure how I feel about that.

Underwater Passerby

Yesterday afternoon at Bowls.  Owari-san on the speedy bottom turn!

And practicing the cutback!  Nice rail turn!

Thank you Owari-san for the wonderful blue Hawaii surf session.

Nice colors equal nice photo.  And nice bottom turn too.

Same bottom turn passing by underwater.  Blue Hawaii…
