there was an 8.0 magnitude earthquake yesterday in New Zealand.  that triggered a tsunami warning for Hawaii!  i was watching it very close because if it was to come, i was preparing to take Mayuki out to sea.  the safest place to be…

luckily, it was cancelled.  whew!!!

woke up early this morning and checked the waves all around the island.  luckily, the closest spot to my house was the best.

i drove there in 10 minutes and foiled an hour of happiness.  nobody was out near me so it was so peaceful!  can’t wait till tomorrow!!!

tako are very smart.  it took me years and years to be able to outsmart them.  it’s like a game trying to get them to come out of their hole.  but once you figure it out, it’s pretty easy.  

and the trick is to keep them alive.  

i’ve actually thrown some on my boat before and they escaped.  it’s pretty cool watching them try to outsmart you.

back in the day, this was a dream catch.  sashimi, fried fish, and takoyaki for a dinner party.  just one of my secret spots…
