Magnum Upgrade

the first time i went diving with Benji, he could only dive 20′ maximum.  that was less than a year ago.  now, he can dive 80′ comfortably.  and when you can dive that deep, you will see things you never seen before.  the fish aren’t use to seeing humans that deep so big fish like this will literally swim up to you.  good job Benji!

my speargun is really old and it finally broke on our trip.  so instead of fixing it all the time, i decided to do an upgrade.  this is what i always wanted…

and since life is unpredictable and so short, may as well get what you want.  so i drove out to West Side Dive and Tackle to do some shopping today.

i spent 2 hours in there and wanted to buy everything!   want to thank Kris and Troy for the excellent service, expertise, and kindness.  i’ll be back there soon to buy another gun after i try out my new one first.  mahalo guys!

A Whales Tale

when ever we go on boat trips, i tell the kids only 3 of them can come because it gets crowded on Mayuki.  but Joshua texted me the night before, “hey Uncle, can Reo come?”  usually i would say no to 4 guys, but this was an exception.  Reo is a cool kid.  i use to surf the JPSA tour with his Dad back in the early 1990’s before Reo was even born.  his Dad Inaba-san was always super cool and a very good surfer.  Reo’s a very quiet kid on land, but once he get into the water, this kid surfs like the worlds top professionals.  Joshua and Seth always tell me how good he surfs.  and the boys also stay with Reo in Japan so i really appreciate him and his Dad.  so yeah, Reo is like family to the boys, which makes him family to me.

check out this yellow spot Reo caught on the way home.  this is some of the best sashimi ever.

the whole trip, Reo was very quiet.  then on the way back, he was sitting next to me when i was driving.  all of a sudden, a huge whale breached right in front of the boat towards us.  he jumped and screamed.   i don’t care how quiet you are, if you seen that, you would have screamed too!  haha…

last, want to say hello to the Inaba-san family over in Chiba.  you guys raised a really good kid!  and thank you always for taking care of the boys over there.
