Afternoon @ Castles

when i went to Kailua yesterday afternoon, i was pretty shocked to see this.  so many people aren’t taking this pandemic seriously.  there were about a thousand people on the beach and it looked totally unsafe.

Carter and I walked around and stayed away from everybody.  it seems like we where the only responsible adults there.  it was like Disney Sea on the beach.  i would never take my kids there!

if this continues, the coronavirus will never go away.

in my opinion, the ocean is the safest place to be.  so everybody, just go surf and go home!!!

pretty happy seeing the kids having fun in the sun.

and adults too.

since there isn’t a parking lot at this particular beach, everybody just parks in the residential area.  illegally parked cars everywhere and i actually felt sorry for the people that live there.

every intersection on that whole street had cars parked illegally.  it’s not only disrespectful, it’s also a safety hazard.

somebody must have called the police because all the illegally parked cars had citations.  that’s great!  i just wish people would respect other peoples neighborhoods a little more.  i’m glad i don’t live there because i’d probably be flattening everybody’s tires.  haha…

January 17, 2021 Hawaii Surf Report

Where’s all the tourists?  Right here in Kailua…

Good morning 4:30am.
North shore still big at 8-12′. Good conditions.
Ala Moana chest high and good.
Diamond Head shoulder high and good.
No wind so perfect morning conditions. Afternoon onshore breezes.
Sunny and warm.
Going East.
Have a wonderful day!

A Kailua Covid Super Spreader???

still keeping my early morning sunrise surf streak alive.  today the winds were super bad in the morning but went out anyway.  most of the locals didn’t go out and went home.  so it was pretty peaceful.

then the storm came and it was so beautiful.  the best time to be in the water when the storm comes because once it passes, the conditions could change.

the rain passed, the rainbow came out, and the conditions turned offshore and perfect.

in the matter of minutes, the waves went from junky onshore, to straight offshore.

and it was barreling!  and guess what?  no locals and hardly anybody else was out!

i slept from 7pm to 4am last night so i was fully charged to try out my new foil board.

Trinko made this foil board and it was working so good!  it felt so alive!

then went to check Diamond Head for round 2.  small, crowded, and junky so i passed.

instead, i drove out to the East side to check out the waves.  when i got to the beach, i couldn’t believe how many people where there!  are we really in the middle of a pandemic???  come on Kailua, be more responsible!!!  went out front to foil and thankfully nobody was out…
