omg, i just got home and heard the shocking news.  the Pipeline Masters is suspended because of positive covid-19 tests  the CEO Eric Logan and some of the staff tested positive so they can’t run the Pipeline Masters.  and i guess that goes with the Roxy Pro too.  shark attack and coronavirus?  am i shocked?  not shocked because we live in a crazy world and anything can happen at anytime.  but i’m shocked because Joshua worked so hard to get his spot in Pipe Masters and now what’s going to happen?  like always, i think things happen for a reason so i’m ok with it.  but some dreams are shattered, some athletes won’t get a paycheck now, and who knows if the contest season can continue at all in the near future.  as of now, the word “suspended” is pretty vague.  i’m sure they are trying their hardest to finish the contest, but things don’t look too good.  anyway, stay tuned because like i said, things can change in a second…

back in November of 2010, Andy Irons passed away.  there was a memorial paddle out at Ala Moana Bowls for him.  i was surprised when Joshua and Seth showed up.  i had no idea that Andy was their hero who they both looked up to.  i asked them what they liked about Andy and they said they liked his surfing, his style, and his personality.  anyway, we paddled out, spread flowers, said our goodbyes, and caught a wave in.  i always wondered what these kids where thinking at that time because they were so young.

now exactly 10 years later, these boys are both surfing in the Pipeline Masters in Memory of Andy Irons.   i get chicken skin even thinking about it!  maybe they got inspired?  maybe they want to make Andy proud?  or maybe they want to be the best surfers in the world too?  what ever it is, they are definitely on the right path.

ok boys, the time has come and like Andy would always say before conquering the Pipeline Masters, “GAME ON!”

Good morning 4:20am.
North shore waist high and clean. Small swell tomorrow afternoon, then bigger swell on Sunday. Pipe Masters off today.
Ala Moana waist with chest high sets. Smaller than yesterday.
Diamond Head shoulder high and getting bumpy again.
Trade winds back at 15mph.
Sunny and cool day.
Going to the ocean.
