Diving Addiction

one of the Molokai Boys came by the house and gave us a full cooler of deer.  in fact, he gave us the whole deer he hunted that morning.  i brought back some and cured it in my refrigerator.  last night, i couldn’t wait and cut up some sashimi.

omg, it was amazing!  it tastes like maguro!!!  now i have a months worth of meat in my refrigerator and i’m excited to prepare it in different ways.

then after the sashimi, i went down my street to eat the best nabe in the world.  amazing as always…

woke up this morning and since there were no winds, i went straight to Diamond Head.

got out my foil and flew like a big bird!  it was perfect!

last time we went to Molokai, Kelia got hooked on diving.  so this time, our main focus was diving.  i was following her around laughing my head off.  she’s so funny!

this is her second time hunting for fish.  so i was filming her going up and down and up and down.  she didn’t catch anything but she was trying super hard.  and also getting frustrated.  haha…

i teach all the kids that there is no rush to kill something.  if it happens, it happens.  if it doesn’t, it was never meant to be.  someday Kelia will get a fish, cook it, and eat it.  but for now, keep practicing girl…

as for me, all i was looking for this day was sashimi for Joe’s birthday party dinner.  after i got this, Seth saw a much bigger one come by.  we tried to get it but it outsmarted us.  so yes, this fish can be smarter than us humans and we must appreciate that…

Seth texted me earlier today “nice conditions tomorrow, might go dive.”  so i texted him back “ok, let’s go!”  got the buoys ready and we’re going hunting for big fish tomorrow.  hope Seth finally gets his big dream fish.  stay tuned…

Molokai Style Japanese Firetruck

for whoever invented the foil, i want to personally thank you from the bottom of my heart.  you made me be able to fly like a bird… want to wish Shea a very Happy Birthday.  wishing you a wonderful year ahead girl!   there was no rice cooker on Molokai so guess who makes the best rice in a pot?  yes, Seth Moniz… i asked Seth to teach Naoka how to make rice without a rice cooker.  so here you have the number 12 WCT Pro surfer in the world teaching you how to cook rice?  haha…  too funny…  and 2x Long Board World Champion Kelia Moniz in the back making curry.  surfers that can cook are cool!   i was working on lunch.  started off with garlic, onions, zucchini on the stove.   then added meat, cabbage, and kimchee sauce.  so here is a custom kim chee stir fry!  the day before the trip, i invited Isaiah, Joshua, and Seth to come with us because i always do.  but this time, i totally forgot about Kelia.  haha.  so when we arrived, i got a text from Kelia, “hey Uncle, are you on Molokai?”  i said “yup, come on over.”  she booked a flight and next thing you know, we’re all enjoying lunch together on Molokai.  the word “spontaneous” runs in our family blood.  haha… seen the coolest car ever!  so i asked the guy where he got it from.  he said he brought it over from Japan!  omg!  so i got all the information from him, than someday i will be driving some cool Japanese car like this in Hawaii.  guarantee… omg, i just love this little Mitsubishi fire truck!  i want one!!!
