My Hawaii Boot Camp Trip

Sasaki-san came to Hawaii for the first time in his life.  and the main reason was surf in my Boot Camp.  so knowing that, i got meaner, stricter, and louder.  haha.  made a few adjustments and he surfed perfectly.  in fact, he caught about 12 waves and never fell on any.

look at the hands, knees, eyes, and feet.  all positioned perfectly!

i had an amazing time with you this morning Sasaki-san.  both of us didn’t even get our hair wet!  haha.  thank you and see you bright and early tomorrow morning…

warmed up with some hot pho.  tomorrow will be Boot Camp Day 2 so better be ready!  this man is going back to Japan a much better surfer!

then took the girls out after lunch.  they didn’t come for my Boot Camp so i didn’t want to yell at them and scare them.  haha…  i tried to be nice but the Sargent in me came out a few times.  haha…

Marina-san’s first ride of her life!  so nice!!!

thank you Marina-san and Yui-san for the amazing afternoon.  you girls are the coolest sisters!

then right back out with Shimamura-san.  he came back again for more Boot Camp so i was back to yelling and yelling.  all the other surfers in the ocean must think i’m crazy!  haha…

good practice means good results.  bigger waves and bigger smiles…

thank you Shimamura-san for coming all the way to Hawaii for Boot Camp.  you’ll be here for only 2 days so i’ll make sure you go back to Japan a few levels up.  just forgive me after for yelling.  haha..  see you tomorrow!

Happy Gay Pride Day!

YES, here is the start of the Gay Pride Parade!   it’s been going on for decades but this year was much different.   this year was different in a way that normal people were marching.  normal meaning unlike before, the message was it’s ok to come out and join the parade. corporations waving the colors of pride… #EQUALITYMATTERS gays, lesbians, transgender, or what ever you want to be is the norm.  in other words, just be you… cool looking dog marching too. big corporations like Lululemon coming out with pride.  a few years ago, this would be taboo.  now, it’s all good… Ishikawa-san was very lucky to see this.  i was lucky too because my image of Gay Pride changed.  i actually felt like marching and supporting them too.  haha… back to the surf.  after Ishikawa-san caught 50 waves in the morning, i told him “ok, now let’s go surf again.  but this time, take everything you learned this morning and apply it.”  and that’s exactly what he did… just in 2 days of Boot Camp, we have a reborn surfer!  much better, much calmer, and much cooler… i rode my shortboard and was trying to get different angles.  i love this one!  and i love short boarding too!   ALOHA Ishikawa-san.  so stoked to see you surfing so good and enjoying the Hawaiian lifestyle so much.  see you again soon!
